Day  3  2

I Like…

…Phyllis’ stance on Illegal Immigration, based on Rule of Law.

She supports American identity, which includes in part,

… immediate border security to stop the entry of illegal aliens, illegal drugs, women seeking to give birth to “anchor babies,” Third World diseases, criminal gangs, and potential terrorists. We oppose all variations of amnesty and guest-worker visas. Our first task is to assimilate the millions of non-English-speaking foreignborn who are legal residents.”

Phyllis discusses many of these topics in her columns, and is even-handed in her criticism of government policies, whether during the Bush administration here, here and here,  or during a Democratic administration, here and here.

Day  4  3

I Like…

…Phyllis’ work to defeat radical feminists.

Ms. Schlafly maybe best-known for leading the decade-long fight to

 Stop ERA.

In the 30 years since ERA’s defeat, many of the dangers that Phyllis warned the country about , were shown to really be  threats to women’s  traditional rights and protections.  The feminist agenda has marched on, bringing us closer to same sex marriage and tax-funded abortions. True to form, the language voted to be kept off  legislation (defeated amendments or changes to bills) reveals what the radicals hope to accomplish through these laws.

Phyllis’ columns and commentaries continue to expose the unrelenting radical feminists.

Her book, Feminist Fantasies, was described this way by Booklist:

The one person most responsible for the defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment is nothing if not articulate, cogent, and persuasive, as page after page of this selection of her syndicated columns, statements before congressional committees, and other short writings amply attests. Altogether these pieces constitute a united front against radical feminism.”… Essential public-affairs reading.”

When speaking on the topic, Phyllis points out the Constitution has always been gender neutral.

By now, you’ve read 10 days worth of articles of Phyllis’ accomplishments and projects.  Phyllis didn’t need ERA to get her through school, get a job,  influence congressmen, finish Law School, advise a president, or write and publish books.

…Phyllis’ work on college and university campuses across the country.

As noted on her web site

Eagle Forum Collegians was started by Phyllis Schlafly in 1993 to encourage students to get involved in the issues being discussed and promoted on college and university campuses across the country.”

Today…”Eagle Forum Collegians are college students dedicated to promoting conservatism on college campuses by hosting knowledgeable speakers and authors, writing for campus newspapers, promoting and campaigning for local conservative candidates, speaking up in class, and participating in or starting conservative clubs on campus, like an Eagle Forum Club.”

To find out more about Eagle Forum Collegians, including their annual Summit attended by students from across the nation, explore their page at http://www.efcollegians.org/

Promoting conservatism on campuses and preserving the right to speak conservative ideas in the classroom,

while exposing the liberals  and the politically correct agenda that dominates campuses.

For that, Phyllis Schlafly and her Eagle Forum deserve an A+

I Like…

               …her Books.

Phyllis Schlafly--The Author

Phyllis wrote and self-published her first book, A Choice Not An Echo, in 1964, and has been prolifically writing and influencing the political scene  ever since.

Found in the biography material on her web site:

Mrs. Schlafly is the author or editor of 20 books on subjects as varied as family and feminism (The Power of the Positive Woman and Feminist Fantasies), nuclear strategy (Strike From Space and Kissinger on the Couch), education (Child Abuse in the Classroom), child care (Who Will Rock the Cradle?), and foreign policy (Allegiance). Her lifetime dedication to the problem of illiteracy led her to develop a phonics system to teach reading skills. First Reader (1994) is designed for the beginning child, and Turbo Reader (2001) is a revised version for the student of any age. Her most recent book is The Supremacists: The Tyranny of Judges and How to Stop It.”

Phyllis has been named our country’s “best pamphleteer since Tom Paine” by the economist George Gilder.

Phyllis’ books can be found  online at the Eagle Forum Web Site(Click here), through RATP’s Amazon.com button in the Great Conservative Reads area.

Day 9 8

I Like…

…Phyllis’ strong support for fulltime homemakers.

According to her Eagle Forum Web Site,

Phyllis Schlafly is America’s best-known advocate of the dignity and honor that we as a society owe to the role of fulltime homemaker. The mother of six children, she was the 1992 Illinois Mother of the Year…She and her late husband of 44 years are the parents of six children (John, Bruce, Roger, Liza, Andrew, and Anne) and 14 grandchildren. She taught all her children to read before they entered school and all had outstanding academic success: three lawyers, one physician, one Ph.D. mathematician, and one businesswoman.”

Not only is Mrs. Schlafly a role model and an award winner  in this area herself, one of her many projects is recognizing  and presenting her own award, the  Fulltime Homemaker Award’ , to deserving and accomplished mothers.  The list of luminaries include:  Mrs. Pat Boone(2007), Mrs. Rick Santorum(2002), Mrs. James Dobson(1999), Mrs. J.C. Watts(1997)and Mrs. John Jackson(1988).  They do indeed light the way for us.

Follow this link to see the list…

They have been mothers and mentors, home-school moms and PTO moms, nurses and national speakers, actve politically and a potential astronaut.

They all demonstrate that though they “gave up” a career, they really didn’t give up anything.

Day 10 9

I Like…

…Phyllis’ timely information warning us about Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.  Through articles, books, archived radio interviewsalerts and EF’s Court Watch, Mrs. Schlafly contrasts the differences between two competing theories…

Reconstructionist constitutional theory diametrically opposes Constitutionalist constitutional theory; and we must understand these theories in order to evaluate adequately, not only judicial nominations, but the entire range of policies and actions concerning the Constitution and the courts. Questions of constitutional theories have permeated, not just American law, but American culture in general. Therefore, all patriots need at least a cursory understanding of the opposing constitutional theories in today’s Culture War. Three very broad and fundamental issues divide Constitutionalists from Reconstructionists. We shall summarize the three issues and then offer a view of the advocates of each theory concerning these issues.”
