On Saturday, we celebrate the birth of the most imitated national document in the world—our Constitution. At the core of this 224 year old document, are the first principles our Founding Fathers envisioned: individual freedom, personal responsibility, and limited role for government. And that’s why every September 17, we celebrate this monumental document.
In Washington this week, several organizations are marking the occasion:

For the second year in a row, RATP will participate in the Michigan Peach Festival of Romeo.
For a complete list of activities and attractions, visit the Festival’s web site here.
Look for our awesome float entry in the Children’s Parade, which starts at 10am.
Rain or shine, patriots young and old enjoy being part of the Romeo tradition.
The theme this year is “Candy,” and RATP likes to hand out red, white & blue candy.

First place
The Floral Parade travels south on Main Street and begins at 1:30PM.
Our award winning float (last year RATP won 1st Place in the non-commercial category!) features an 8 foot tall Constitution, a large Liberty Bell, costumed historical characters, and is pulled by a handsome tractor. Thanks to the many volunteers who donated time and materials, designed, and assembled the float.
Check here for the video from the 2010 float entry effort.
Also, we have an informational booth, right on Main Street, just south of the Citgo Station, near 332 S Main St.
If you are interested in manning our booth, call Jan @ (586) 752-7524, or Darlene @ (586) 530-2292.

Are we a “Rule of Law” Country, or a “Rule by Discretion” Country?
Working its way through the approval process in the U.S. House of Representatives, new legislation concerning immigration is aimed at preventing the executive branch from interfering with the enforcement of current immigration law. The bill, named the “HALT” Act, or the “Hinder the Administration’s Legalization Temptation” Act, was introduced by Rep. Lamar Smith with these comments (via July 18, 2011 Legislative Update, FAIR website),
“Congress has defeated amnesty for illegal immigrants several times in recent years but this has not stopped President Obama from trying a backdoor amnesty. Over the course of the last year, the Obama administration has ignored the will of Congress and the American people by using executive branch authority to allow illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S.”

Patriot Week Celebrates Freedom
by Michael Warren
Abraham Lincoln declared that “Of our political revolution of ’76, we are all justly proud. It has given us a degree of political freedom, far exceeding that of any other of the nations of the earth. In it, the world has found a solution of that long mooted problem, as to the capability of man to govern himself. In it was the germ which has vegetated, and till is to grow and expand into the universal liberty of mankind.”
These words ring true today. In 1776, America turned the world topsy-turvy and established the first government in history established on certain founding First Principles: The rule of law, equality, unalienable rights, the Social Compact, limited government and the right to alter or abolish an oppressive government.
Those founding First Principles became the basis of our Constitution, and, in turn, all the progress we have made in connection with the blessings of liberty.
In the hustle and bustle of our day, we often forget how blessed we truly are. Take five minutes to read the headlines about those struggling for freedom in Egypt, Syria and other hot spots across the globe and we know we still inspire others.
Look at the sacrifices our brave men and women in the armed forces — in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and elsewhere — to know that people are still willing to lay down their lives for those ideas.
Yet, the duty to preserve our liberty is not limited to overseas freedom fighters or our own military. No, we are the heirs of the American Revolution and we, no one else, must stand for freedom if it is to survive today, tomorrow and into the next generation.
Unfortunately, for far too long, we have given the need to understand our founding First Principles and history short shrift. Study after study confirms that our students and general public are ill-informed about the basic tenets of our Constitution, government, and history.
This threatens our ability to survive as a free people. Lincoln also explained that “As a nation freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
The quickest path to suicide is to forget and hold in disdain that which makes us free.
But all is not lost.
We have the ability to reclaim our heritage.
One way is through Patriot Week, which has been celebrated in Michigan since 2009. Anchored by the key dates of Sept. 11 (the anniversary of the terrorist attacks) and Sept. 17 (the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution, dubbed “Constitution Day”), Patriot Week is a grassroots effort that renews America’s spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history.
We need to invigorate our appreciation and understanding of America’s spirit.
Patriot Week is an indispensable way to do so.
Join our effort by volunteering, engaging an organization to participate, or attending an event.

Michael Warren is an Oakland County Circuit Court judge, co-founder of Patriot Week, www.patriotweek.org, and author of “America’s Survival Guide,” www.americassurvivalguide.com.
Dear Friends,
Patriot Week is at Risk….
As I hope you know, Leah and I co-founded Patriot Week a couple of years ago. Michigan is on the cusp of being a national leader with bills pending in the Michigan legislature to permanently recognize Patriot Week.
Patriot Week is a grassroots effort that renews America’s spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history.
That effort is at grave risk. The bills are dead unless we act.
Patriot Week is a Bi-Partisan, Unanimously Supported Effort
The Patriot Week bill was unanimously approved by the State Senate (38-0). Considering today’s political environment, that is nothing short of miraculous.
An identical bill was unanimously approved by the State House Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs & Homeland Security (11-0). The bill has bi-partisan co-sponsorship by 20 Representatives (nearly 20% of the House). Again, remarkable accomplishments in this toxic political environment.
Patriot Week is Being Blocked Because America is a “Special Interest”
The Republican House leadership has indicated to the bill’s primary House sponsor – Representative Gail Haines – that they will not allow a vote on the bill before the entire House.
I’ve been personally told by the staff of the Republican Floor Leader that there is a concern about having it permanently recognized as a law because it is should just be a resolution. However, Michigan has about 20 permanently recognized days in law. And none of them currently have a movement behind them like Patriot Week.
More disturbing, Representative Haines – an enthusiastic Patriot – has told me the leadership is concerned that if they approve Patriot Week as a law that “other special interest groups” will demand recognition in state law as well. I heard about the same thing from the Floor Leader’s staff.
America Is Not a Special Interest; Patriot Week Unites All Americans
I was unaware that America is a special interest.
I was unaware that Patriotism is a special interest concern.
I really do not think that George Washington, Patrick Henry, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, or Martin Luther King Jr. were special interest mouthpieces.
It is impossible for me to accept that the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and I Have a Dream Speech are special interests’ propaganda.
I was unaware that our historical flags represent only special interests groups.
I am blind to how the First Principles of the rule of law, equality, unalienable rights, limited government, the Social Compact, and the right to alter or abolish an oppressive government embody special interest lobbying.
To the contrary, these are the First Principles, the Patriots, flags, and documents that unite America. They rise above petty special interests – they are what makes America America.
These bills have been recognized in a bi-partisan manner, from liberal Democrats to conservative Republicans, from all races and religions.
We Must Act TODAY
I hope this is really just a misunderstanding. But it is clear that the bills are dead unless we act. THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION IS ENDING TOMORROW, SO WE NEED TO ACT NOW!
If you love America, the time to act is now.
We need you, and any Patriot you know, to be heard by our Republican leaders in the State House.
The Speaker of the House is Speaker Jase Bolger. The floor leader is Representative Jim Stamas. Speaker Bolger told me that Representative Stamas controls what will be voted on and referred me to him. I sent Representative Stamas two emails – neither was returned. His staff told me that Representative Stamas was supposed to call me – he hasn’t.
The representatives are good men. I just think they need to be reminded that Patriot Week is a broad, bi-partisan movement, it is not special interest legislation, that would put Michigan on the map in connection with civics and American history.
All We Want is a Vote
All we want is for the Republican Leadership to schedule the bills for a vote. Remove the logjam and allow the House to consider the bills on their merits.
If Speaker Bolger or Representative Stamas (or any other legislator) wants to vote against Patriot Week, if they think it is a bad idea or sets a bad precedent, that is their prerogative – they are welcome to vote their conscience and vote against it.
All we want is a full House vote on bi-partisan bills that have been unanimously supported by every Senator and Representative who has the opportunity to vote on them.
What You Can Do Today
Below is listed the contact information for Speaker Bolger and Floor Leader Representative Stamas. Contact them today to support a vote on Patriot Week.
The representatives are very good men, and any contact should be professional and respectful.
Also, please contact your local state Representative to ensure that they have the right to vote on the bill. Links below will lead you to that contact information.

America Will Thank You
I thank you in advance for all your help.
More importantly, America thanks you. We are the only country in the world that is based on our founding First Principles articulated in the Declaration of Independence and embedded in the Constitution. We can only survive if we remember what makes us different – and that’s what Patriot Week is all about. We need to renew the spirit of America, and Patriot Week is one, vital way to do it.
Please help us preserve our freedom and support the vote on Patriot Week.
God Bless you and God Bless America!
Very truly yours,
Michael Warren

Lately, I really struggle with the question; why do liberals want to spend my money (for me)? Come with me as we search for the answer to this question together.
… Hey, wait a minute. I might be on to something. Heaven on Earth. That’s it! Heaven on Earth. Liberals want to make Heaven on Earth. Hurray! We’re going to have Heaven on Earth.
… What? Are you kidding me? I’m a little embarrassed to continue. “What a cheap ass”. Oops. Sorry, did I say that out loud? Strike that from the record and I’ll try to compose myself as we move on.
… Do liberals want to rewrite the Bible? Some claim that they want to rewrite the U.S. Constitution. I’m not so sure about that. I think liberals just want to ignore the Constitution. It would be way too much work to rewrite the whole thing. Maybe, liberals just want to ignore the Bible. I don’t know.
…Guilt. Why do liberals (and progressives) feel so guilty? What did they do?

Hello Fellow Patriots,
We had a great General Meeting on September 20th! We enjoyed a marvelous dinner, heard 2 Circuit Court Judge candidates speak and received a sobering, but inspiring message from Judge Michael Warren. Judge Warren talked about his book ”America’s Survival Guide, How to Stop America’s Impending Suicide by Reclaiming Our First Principles and History”.
We encourage all of you who missed the meeting to check out these videos. You will not be disappointed…
