At least in the House of Representatives everyone could agree (414-0) that President Obama’s proposed budget was a farce.
Perhaps its about time that the people of Michigan as the employer of our elected Senate representation reevaluate our employee. Senator Stabenow ranks 14th out of 100 in proposing new Bills to become Law. Of the 34 Bills she has sponsored, exactly Zero have become law. Of the 167 Bills she co-sponsored, only 1 has become law.
Senator Stabenow’s most recent offering is (S.2250) A bill to prevent homeowners from being forced to pay taxes on forgiven mortgage loan debt. Stabenow is a rank-and-file Democrat according to GovTrack’s own analysis of bill sponsorship. That in of itself would be meaningless if the Democratic controlled Senate hadn’t disregarded the legally mandated budget process, requiring them to submit a budget resolution by April 1. The House and Senate each consider those budget resolutions and are expected to pass them, possibly with amendments, by April 15.
So, with April 15th fast approaching, have you done your Tax Due Diligence? Has the Senate?
When the governed people fail to submit their Tax Reconciliation by April 15th, they get their hand slapped. When the Senate fails… they get reelected.
